Across the United States this week, folks have been returning to their parent's homes to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Now, this isn't exclusive to the US, but anyone will be familiar with the weird sensation of returning to your folks home after an extended absence and finding the bizarre objects inexplicably lying around the house.

We're talking tacky ornaments, weird commemorative plates, old tins of food, and magazines that should have been thrown out years ago.

Yet, seeing as though it is Thanksgiving, these odd trinkets that parents insist on keeping hold of have been popping up all over Twitter.

Here are some of our favourites that people have found whilst digging in their parent's wardrobes and cupboards.

Dangerously out-of-date items were very prominent.

'You just never know when they are going to come in handy.'

"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

The resistance is strong in this household.

This wonderfully bizarre prank deserves some sort of medal.
