Breaking: ‘Wanksy’ may have returned
Earlier this year we spoke to a mysterious street artist called 'Wanksy' who had been spray painting penises around potholes to ensure that the local council would come and fix them.
(Picture: Wanksy)
He told us:
They don't always get filled, in fact, I think the council maybe deliberately not filling them in now.
Wanksy’s operations were based around Ramsbottom, in Greater Manchester, but there appears to be a copycat operation underway in Fetcham, Surrey. In a road called Cock Lane.
GetSurrey has reported that all the potholes iin the road had been adorned with penises.
However, the style of the penises in the Fetcham series appears to be different to the Wanksy originals, indicating they may be a knock-off imitation.
Note the shape and direction of the balls, falling towards the end of the penis, as opposed to the Ramsbottom series in which they fall outwards.
Nothing has been confirmed yet as to the creator of the latest works, but we’ll bring you the latest when we can.
Polly Birkbeck told GetSurrey that she saw them while taking her daughter to school on Tuesday:
I drive down there every day on the school run and today I said to my daughter 'hang on a minute, someone's drawn willies on the road'.
There are about 15 of them, I stopped the car and counted.
I guess the council will just scrub them off but I'm surprised they haven't fixed this bit of road, it's been like that for years.
It's possibly a way to highlight the issue and galvanise someone into action.
A county council spokesman said:
The artist of these drawings will be cock-a-hoop to know that the road is due to be resurfaced as part of £100 million Operation Horizon scheme which is overhauling hundreds of miles of roads in Surrey most in need of repair.
What a world.
