The BBC just compared George Osborne to a children's cartoon

Auntie decided to be a bit cheeky during an afternoon news bulletin on Monday.

During a segment following George Osborne's speech at the Conservative party conference during which the chancellor referred to the Tories as "the builders" of Britain, the BBC News channel used this split image to really get the point across:

It's been noted in the past that Osborne is fond of a good ol' fashioned factory tour to emphasise how much he knows about the economy. He's often seen sporting a hard hat and goggles while doing the rounds at steel plants and construction firms.

The comparison to Bob the Builder has been made before. So maybe the Beeb was just trying jump on the banter bandwagon...

Can they broadcast it? Yes they can!
