Boris Johnson just sang 'Ode to Joy' in German to prove some sort of point we guess

The former mayor of London hasn’t paused since his eight-year term ended with the appointment of Sadiq Khan last week, ploughing full steam ahead with his newest cause – the Brexit campaign.

Opponents have accused Johnson of casual racism after claiming last month that US President Barack Obama’s Kenyan heritage gave him an “ancestral dislike” of Britain.

However during a speech about Brexit on Monday, Johnson was quick to defend his honour:

I am a child of Europe. I can read novels in French and I can sing the 'Ode to Joy' in German – and if they keep accusing me of being a Little Englander, I will.

Channel 4's Michael Crick was on hand to urge him on. "Go on then," he heckled.

It isn’t the first time Johnson has thrown the script out of the window when it comes to public speaking. This is pretty standard BoJo shenanigans, if we're honest.

Our advice, Boris? Don't quit the day job.
