"Does everyone else know something I don't know?" was the certainly the feeling of 2016.

Addressing the allegations that Russian state sponsored hackers were involved in the leak of emails between senior Democrats, president-elect Donald Trump made a startling announcement.

On Saturday, the president-elect attended an event in the grand ballroom of his Florida estate Mar-a-Lago.

According to Politico reporter Eric Geller, Trump took questions from reporters for four minutes.

In response to queries regarding the CIA investigation into Russian hacking and election interference, Trump drew attention to the work of the intelligence community ahead of the Iraq War.

If you look at the weapons of mass destruction, that was a disaster, and they were wrong. And so I want them to be sure...

I think it's unfair if they don't know. And I know a lot about hacking. And hacking is a very hard thing to prove. So it could be somebody else.

On Friday the White House announced the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats from the United States, in retaliation to the hacking.

In the Mar-a-Lago ballroom, Trump went on to comment:

I also know things that other people don't know, and so they cannot be sure of the situation.

That's about as ominous as you can get.

According to Geller, when asked what exactly he knows, Trump replied:

You'll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Oh wait. That was as ominous as you can get.

Asked about the importance of cyber security to the incoming Trump administration, the president-elect gave reporters a top tip for proofing against hackers:

If you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old fashioned way because I'll tell you what, no computer is safe. I don't care what they say, no computer is safe.

To stress this warning, Trump drew on the super scientific anecdote:

I have a boy who's ten years old, he can do anything with a computer.

Good to know, Donald.
