The internet thinks this grandma helped Mexico beat Germany in the World Cup

The 2018 football World Cup has already produced a few surprises.

Brazil, Argentina and France have looked unconvincing against supposedly lesser opponents, while England only just about managed to get a win over Tunisia.

However, those pale in comparison to Germany's disastrous opening game against Mexico.

The reigning world champions wouldn't have been expecting an easy ride against the Mexicans, who aren't exactly a pushover, but to lose 1-0 would have been unthinkable for Das Mannschaft.

Yet that's exactly what happened as the Joachim Low's men went down to a solitary goal from Mexico's Hirving Lozano.

How did this happen? Hard work? German inefficiency? Luck? How about divine intervention?

A video has gone viral online of a grandmother blessing all of the Mexican players before kick-off, especially their goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who she blessed twice.

Now, we don't want to put two and two together and get five, but this would make a good case for a higher power favouring the Mexicans on Saturday.

The internet clearly agrees with this sentiment.

Now fans of other teams and nations want to borrow her.

It's not just sporting events that people want to use her powers for either.
