Member of the public praised for rolling eyes during Tory leadership debate on live TV

A member of the public who was called in to participate in BBC’s leadership debate has won the internet for her epic eye roll.

Carmella from Southampton was on a video call and asked the likes of Boris Johnson, Jeremy Hunt, Sajid Javid, Rory Stewart and Michael Gove about a no-deal Brexit during the live TV debate.

She said: "As a mother of three with a husband in the property industry, if we have a no-deal my husband could lose his job and my children face an uncertain future - why are you even contemplating a no-deal Brexit?"

The leaders each attempted to answer the question, with Gove saying the reason he’s considering a no-deal scenario is because "we’ve got to leave the European Union".

I do agree that a no-deal Brexit would create some economic turbulence.

But he added: "We need to make sure that we're ready for whatever comes."

Johnson told Carmella it was “very important” for her to understand that “none of us want a no-deal Brexit,” while Javid said they could “prepare more” for it, whereas Stewart ruled out a no-deal entirely.

Jeremy Hunt told Carmella "the reason we need to keep no deal on the table is to get a deal but it should only be a last resort".

Carmella wasn't convinced, and she said:

I'm not reassured at all I'm really concerned about the future for my children I have one working in the city, I have one training to be a vet, and I have one preparing to go to university. I'm worried about the future and I'm worried about my husband's job.

People loved her eye roll and subsequent takedown of the Tory leadership.

"Carmella for PM."

Her reaction echoed those of viewers.

Sums it up, really.
