In 2017, Ivanka Trump decided to share a set of post-Christmas family photos online.
It featured her son, and her husband Jared Kushner on a fishing trip.
To any kid, this fish is a trophy! 🐟 🎣 🏆 https://t.co/wSpMZ0aFkQ— Ivanka Trump (@Ivanka Trump) 1514303280
...Except people quickly noticed something in the photo with Kushner.
For this #christmas @IvankaTrump & #JaredKushner are hanging out with the kids... Confederate flag adjacent. https://t.co/kWHgDLtkff— SusannePosel (@SusannePosel) 1514346971
Yep, that’s a Confederate flag in the background.
The flag has been a source of controversy for its racist undertones.
The Southern Poverty Law Centre says it is viewed by many:
...White southerners as an emblem of their heritage and regional pride despite its association with slavery, Jim Crow, and the violent residence to the [US] civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s.
It was a…unfortunate accident.

But eagle-eyed Twitter users were having none of it

Others pointed out that it was nothing more than a coincidence

Still, not a great look.
