Jeremy Corbyn made a joke that perfectly summed up his time as the Labour leader

Jeremy Corbyn was the keynote speaker at the Progress Annual Conference on Saturday.

Addressing the New Labour pressure group, he spoke about antisemitism, battling the Conservative party and the need to win a majority in the 2020 general election - among other things.

He may not usually be one for jokes, as the parody account @CorbynJokes demonstrates, but he made one at the Progress conference which seemed to neatly sum up his reign of the Labour party so far.

In the face of rumours of a leadership coup mounting in recent weeks, constant argument over whether the recent local elections were good or bad for the party and thinly veiled criticism of his leadership from new mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Corbyn quipped:

I don't respond to personal abuse, if I did I wouldn't get anything done.
