Mariah Carey performed in Times Square on New Year's Eve for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
Her performance on the same show to close 2016 was widely panned, featuring a lip-sync that wasn't in sync while Carey was unable to hear the music the audience was hearing.
Carey finished her performance that year with "We Belong Together" and walked off stage, telling the (pretty miffed and cold) crowd:
It just don’t get any better.
Her response to the performance was also strange:
This year was, therefore, a shot at redemption.
While most agreed her musical performance was impressive during icy temperatures of around 8 degrees Fahrenheit (-13 Celsius), she did confuse the audience with a demand for hot tea midway through the set.
She obviously had a tweet ready:
Happy New Year, everyone.
