Met Gala 2021: The best trolling of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner not being invited to event

Despite having been in a prominent position on the New York social scene at one point, Ivanka Trump - daughter of former President Donald Trump - and her husband Jared Kushner are not among the 400 celebrities attending this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala.

Vogue editor and organiser Anna Wintour has previously said that Donald Trump is banned forever, and it’s is widely believed that Ivanka and Jared were snubbed this year too.

The Lincoln Project offered her - tongue-in-cheek - a helpful way to watch the highly anticipated event at which she was a former regular guest– and it involves a disguise.

Taking to their official Twitter, they posted a screen-recorded video showing a Google search for numerous disguises including glasses, with a nose, mustache, and eye-brow attachment.

Afterwards, they provided a link for her to stream the festivities.

Others joined in the mockery:

“Ivanka releases a statement saying she’s not attending the Met Gala that she wasn’t invited to,” someone wrote, assuming this is how she would react.

Someone else added: “Hell, * I* have a better chance of attending the Met Gala than Ivanka Trump. LOL (& I have zero chance lmao).”

Here’s what other people had to say.

One person joked that she’d be pelted with rotten tomatoes if she attempted to attend...

Another speculated on what fakes names the pair would use if they tried to use masks to enter the event

A couple of people chimed in on the disguise tweet with some options for facial changes to sneak past security

One person used a Taylor Swift lyric to sum up Ivanka’s relationship with Anna Wintour...

This year’s event is titled A Lexicon of Fashion and people are eagerly awaiting what are sure to be exciting outfits.

The Met gala livestream will begin at 5:30 pm ET on Vogue’s website and Twitter. The red carpet will be hosted by singer and actor Keke Palmer and actor, writer, and director Ilana Glazer.

Co-chairs of the event include groundbreaking Gen-Z powerhouses such as inaugural poet Amanda Gorman, Call Me By Your Name actor Timothée Chalamet, singer Billie Eilish, and Tennis star Naomi Osaka.
