A high school student's struggle to take his boyfriend to prom this weekend has captured hearts all over the internet.
Myren is a student from Maryland whose parents told him he couldn't go to prom with his boyfriend Ralph.
He went anyway.
Go Myren.
The 17-year-old posted about his secret adventure on social media, and Twitter users came to congratulate him on his bravery in their throngs:
His sister also gave him her support.
The original post has been retweeted over 18,000 times. While there's been an outpouring of well-wishing online, Myren said that his parents - who aren't on social media - are none the wiser.
Myren and boyfriend Ralph saved up for new suits and prom tickets - and when the night finally arrived, they told their parents they were going to a party, rather than prom.
Asked why he decided to go against their wishes, Myren told BuzzFeed:
My parents wont let me see him. It’s like I’m already living on punishment, so what do I have to lose by going to prom?
Most importantly Ralph broke his silence on an pressing issue.
What? Shut up. You're crying!
