This straight white man could be crowned feminist celebrity of the year

Hey guys and girls, it's that time of year again. That time of year when The Ms Foundation for Women team up with Cosmopolitan.com to find the "Feminist Celebrity of the Year", of course.

Just some of the A listers in the running to be crowned the crème de la crème of feminism etc. are:

Jennifer Lawrence

Shonda Rhimes

Laverne Cox

Ellen DeGeneres

And this white, straight man...

The Orange Is The New Black actor, Matt McGorry, made his way onto the list by publicly announcing his feminism on Facebook in March this year.

He said:

I'm embarrassed to admit that I only recently discovered the ACTUAL definition of 'feminism'.

The fact that the term is sometimes clouded with anything other than pure support and positivity in our society is very tragic. I believe in gender equality. Being a feminist is for both women AND men. I AM A FEMINIST.

Since then he has written about equal pay and called for other men to define themselves as feminist.

Also up for the accolade are Aziz Ansari, America Ferrera, Zoe Saldana, Amy Schumer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
