Actress Bella Thorne has leaked her own nudes in an attempt to 'take power back' from hackers who stole them from her phone.

The 21-year-old actress, who was celebrating the launch of her new book, The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray, said that she refused to be blackmailed and she posted the photographs to Twitter.

Alongside the photographs, she released a statement written in her notes on her iPhone, that read:

Yesterday as you all know, my s*** was hacked.

For the last 24 hours I have been threatened with my own nudes

I feel gross. I feel watched, I feel someone has taken something from me that I only wanted one special person to see.

In a statement, Thorne also added that she was releasing the nudes herself in order to take her 'power back', and that she'd be working with the FBI to uncover the identity of the person behind the leak, reports the Metro.

She also told Hollywood Reporter that she believed that the hacker was a juvenile, that he 'sounds like he's 17', and that she believes he should be 'taught a lesson'.

Speaking about the hacker, she said:

He’s still a kid and we make mistakes, this mistake is a bad one.

But I don’t want some 17-year-old’s whole life ruined because he wasn’t thinking straight and being (an idiot).

She also said:

Plus he’s obviously smart so if he got on the right side of the tracks he could actually possibly help our community and be an alliance. You can’t always tear someone down for their bad sides but more so build up their good sides.

Thorne isn't the first actress who has had intimate photographs of herself stolen from a device. In 2014, Jennifer Lawrence, was the victim of an iCloud hack which resulted in her nude photographs being published online. Speaking about the hack afterwards, she said:

I feel like I got g***b***** by the f****** planet—like, there's not one person in the world that is not capable of seeing these intimate photos of me.

She added:

You can just be at a barbecue and somebody can just pull them up on their phone. That was a really impossible thing to process.

Rihanna and Kate Upton were all hacked in the same year. Just last week, Radiohead released 18 hours of material, to scupper a hacker who threatened to release it unless the band paid a £118,000 ransom, reports the Metro.
