In 2013 a photo was taken by a Canadian college student called Rosea Lake.
The photo was of a young woman's legs. Or rather the back of them.
Running up the leg were marks for height, with labels.
They supposedly represented judgment of a woman's skirt height, and detailed how conservative the height was on the calf ('matronly'), to how high it was on the upper thigh ('asking for it').
Four days ago Ariel Winter, the 19-year-old star from the US comedy series Modern Family, shared a cartoon version of the image
The cartoon with the labels crossed out went viral on Twitter, from a Tweet sent on 6 June.
fixed it lmao https://t.co/YNdq7TpiUi— stephanie (@stephanie) 1496782063
The tweet came under criticism for appropriating a cartoon that appropriated the original artist's concept.
@stephsthetic So you...defaced someones art to explain the message that they were implying anyways— NEW HOZIER ALBUM 2022 (@NEW HOZIER ALBUM 2022) 1496876329
However, Ariel's instagram of this cartoon has recieved a positive reaction, with over 130,000 likes at the time of writing.
