Carrie Symonds and prime minister Boris Johnson have announced that they are expecting a child together.

A spokesperson for the couple said the prime minister and Symonds were "very pleased" to make the announcement.

Last year the pair became the first unmarried couple to live in Downing Street together. But they also confirmed that they're engaged.

Naturally, the prime minister’s baby news has caused quite the commotion online.
