Carrie Symonds and prime minister Boris Johnson have announced that they are expecting a child together.
A spokesperson for the couple said the prime minister and Symonds were "very pleased" to make the announcement.
Last year the pair became the first unmarried couple to live in Downing Street together. But they also confirmed that they're engaged.
Naturally, the prime minister’s baby news has caused quite the commotion online.
Lots of people have questioned the timing of the announcement, given a senior Home Office official resigned earlier today while strongly criticising Home Secretary Priti Patel.
Others have pointed out the irony of this becoming such huge news when the PM has been very cagey when discussing the number of children he has.
Then there were the inevitable Brexit jokes, because of course there were.
Soon #BorisBaby began to trend. And there were even some messages of support too.
There's been no news yet when the baby is due, but we're sure the couple will let us know in due course.
