The explosion of the body positivity movement has given birth to blogs and campaigns, as more and more people look to change some pretty rigid cultural beauty standards.

And with the likes of Chidera Eggerue (Slumflower) and Megan Jayne Crabbe (BodyPosiPanda) working towards breaking down stereotypes about what is attractive, there are some areas where unrealistic beauty standards persist.

Like comics.

Which brings us to a 2015 BuzzFeed video that recently resurfaced on social media. In the clip women "of various shapes and sizes" got together to recreate female superhero poses.

And there were some… interesting results.

Sheridan Watson did Red Sonja.

Nina Mohan tried Spider-Woman.

Kirsten King attempted Wonder Woman.

Kristin Chirico struck a Psylocke pose.

Of the ordeal experience, Chirico said:

I know that they’re not realistic. But I do think that people who read these all the time probably absorb a lot of how they should perceive women’s bodies. And what women’s bodies should be like. Even if they don’t know they’re doing it.
