As the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has rule over a large coverage of land.

We aren't just talking about the 50 states but also territories like American Samoa, Guam and Puerto Rico.

This also includes the US Virgin Islands, which like most of the Caribbean was devastated by Hurricane Irma last month.

During his trip to the region Trump met with lots of officials and politicians from the area but in a speech on Friday he announced something which seemed a little odd.

The President of the US Virgin Islands is Donald Trump. He just reported that he met himself.

By now you are probably wondering "who did he actually meet then?"

That person would by Virgin Islands Governor Kenneth Mapp, a 61-year-old New Yorker who has been in office since 2015.

Here is a picture of Donald and Melania Trump with Mr. Mapp, who definitely isn't the President of the Virgin Islands.

It does seems to be a now daily occurrence to pick Trump apart for the smallest things but even he would probably admit that this was a pretty daft mistake.

In fact, he'd probably welcome the news that he was President of somewhere else, other than the US.

Predictably the internet went wild with this joke.
