Donald Trump tried to quote an article praising him and it went wrong - five times

United States President Donald Trump has made it very clear in the past few days that he is a "very stable genius" and "like, really smart."

The President's level of intellect stretches so far that he can construct tweets which seemingly make no sense whatsoever despite quoting someone else.

If that sounds confusing it's because it is.

On Sunday evening Trump sent out a series of tweets which were quotes from a New York Post article by Michael Goodwin titled:

We're Still Better Off With Trump Than Clinton

As we all know, Trump loves it when anyone sings his praises so he thought he would share a few of Goodwin's words with his Twitter followers.

In now deleted tweets he wrote the following:

These two tweets are littered with errors.

Firstly he's completely misused the word "consensual" which probably isn't great for a man who has confessed to sexual harassment in the past.

He also tweeted this during the Golden Globes ceremony - where the theme of the evening was standing up against harassment.

Furthermore, he misquoted Goodwin's words.

Just for reference here is what Goodwin actually wrote.

Meanwhile, his is turning out to be an enormously consequential presidency.

So much so that, despite my own frustration over his missteps, there has never been a day when I wished Hillary Clinton were president. Not one.

Indeed, as Trump’s accomplishments accumulate, the mere thought of Clinton in the White House, doubling down on Barack Obama’s failed policies, washes away any doubts that America made the right choice.

This was truly a change election — and the changes Trump is bringing are far-reaching and necessary.

Has he never heard of the copy and paste tool?

Also, why would he include Goodwin's email at the end and not just a link to the email?

Perhaps realising his error (or maybe somebody told him?) Trump removed the tweets and posted an error-free version later with an actual link to the article.
