Ed Sheeran is a man of many talents.

He is a world-famous musician who's won many awards and broken numerous records in a staggeringly short space of time.

He's also had a speaking part in Game of Thrones and has been applauded for helping ginger men have more sex.

These multiple talents and plaudits didn't save Ed from a minor slip up when he shook Prince Charles' hand though.

The 26-year-old was at Buckingham Palace on Thursday to collect an MBE for his services to music.

He reportedly joked to Charles that he would like to perform at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - things were clearly going well.

As he received the honour from the heir apparent, however, Ed touched the arm of Prince Charles with his free hand which is apparently strictly against royal protocol.

According to the rules governing commoners and royalty, the only contact that someone is allowed to have with a member of the British royal family is to be initiated by the family themselves and no one else.

Despite this small mishap Ed seemed to have a great time, The Daily Mail quoted the musician as saying:

He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records and I told him I've got a concert in New York tomorrow, and he was quite surprised I was flying after this.
