On Sunday night, Game of Thrones returned for its thousandth series, and brought with it a celebrity cameo.
Singer Ed Sheeran appeared in the season 7 opener of the HBO fantasy, singing and briefly speaking to the character Arya Stark.

Sheeran revelled in his new glory on Instagram.
He subsequently shared this photo from the set:
People were quick to laugh at how incongruous the cameo was with the rest of the show's vibe.
