Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company CEO and general brash billionaire Elon Musk has finally admitted what we all know - that he often takes it too far on Twitter.

In an hour-long conversation with journalist Kara Swisher, Musk admitted that his tweeting habit - which he claims only brings him online for 15 minutes per day - has led to some moments he now regrets.

He said:

It’s fair to say I would probably not have tweeted some of the things I tweeted, that was probably unwise.

And probably not gotten into some of the online fights that I got into. I probably shouldn’t have attacked journalists, probably shouldn’t have done that.

For legal reasons, Musk, who is currently in a relationship with musician Grimes, didn't mention the infamous $40 million tweet that led to him losing his chairman title after the SEC accused him of securities fraud for telling his followers that he was taking Tesla private.

Musk described tweets like this, which he admits hold his company back, as "self-inflicted wounds" induced by excessive pressure.

Following a settlement surrounding the fall out from this tweet, which rather bizarrely embroiled him in a feud with rapper Azealia Banks, he even confessed he’s no longer allowed to tweet certain business details, saying:

I think it’s mostly just if it’s something that might cause a substantial movement in the stock during trading hours

This hasn't been a great year for Musk on Twitter. As the world watched with joy as Thai school children were rescued from a cave, Musk bizarrely hit out at the man who rescued them, calling him a "p***".

But don’t worry folks, he’s vowed to keep tweeting - just not about business - so stay tuned for more strange moments.
