That the mother of a man or woman shot dead by a police officer should be distraught is obvious enough.
However, this striking video highlights the fact that everyone involved in a fatal police shooting is scarred for life - not only the victim and their family, but the police officer and theirs too.
Launched in the wake of a number of deaths from police shootings in the US, the #AsAMotherSpeakOut campaign seeks to spark a wider debate about placing lethal force in the hands of police officers.
