Game of Thrones fans ‘google-bombed’ the show so when you search for ‘bad writers’ the showrunners come up

The final season 8 of Game of Thrones has gotten a mixed response from fans – some think it’s a wonderful work of art, others think it’s terrible.

No matter what side of the fence you’re on, chances are you’re going to tune in to the final episode airing on Monday.

Before that time comes, however, particularly annoyed reddit users have taken their ire out about the way the final season was written out on the internet.

A GoT subreddit called /r/Freefolk, named after the angry, boisterous people beyond the wall, are making it so that if you search for “bad writers” on Google pictures of D.B. Weiss and David Benioff (the show’s creators) comes up.

This, ladies and gents, is called Google Bombing.

The way it works is simple. A reddit post is upvoted by so many users, that it ends up top of Google search results.

A thread titled “Bad Writers. Upvote this post so it’s the first result when you google ‘bad writers’" featured the image of the two GoT showrunners.

By associating the reddit thread with the names and pictures of the showrunners, Google indexes the page and shows it to anyone searching for it.

Reddit users pushed this through a few days ago, but a quick Google search at the time of the writing of this article shows that it’s still very much in place.

Awkward.

Fans of the show, as with all things, are divided on this form of protest.

Some people thought the reddit hack was great

They're probably the same people campaigning for a whole season 8 do-over...

One fan thinks the move is very "Baelishesque"

If you know, you know.

Others think it's mean spirited and offered their support to the writers
