A young woman whose father was a sperm donor took it upon herself to search for her half siblings – and she found 40 of them.
Kianni Arroyo from Orlando, Florida embarked on a five-year project to find her siblings. The 21-year-old told Metro:
I was raised just by my mum, and she’s always been honest with me about the fact that I was born to a sperm donor”.
When she was “old enough” to access the records, she began her quest for her siblings. The first person she found was 20-year-old half-sister Joanna, who lives near Arroyo.
Even though we’ve never met before, having a father in common gives us a really special link.
Arroyo met her father for the first time during a trip to Universal Studios when she was 18 years old, with her mother Ruth.
Sperm donors are only supposed to give 15 to 20 samples, but the company that Kianni’s dad donated to was taken over and the records were lost.
Of the 40 siblings Arroyo has found, 30 are willing to meet.
