US late-night host Jimmy Kimmel used his show to remind us all of what Republican politicians were saying about the COVID-19pandemic.
As you can guess, the comments made in April 2020 have not aged well at all.
The montage, titled “This Week in COVID History” showed a number of conservative figures said about the apparent likelihood they were going to soon defeat the deadly virus.
Fox News’ Sean Hannity bragged that the United States was “inching closer and closer to beating this virus” in the package.
Vice-President Mike Pence said that “there is light at the end of the tunnel” a view that is supported by President Donald Trump who said that the crisis’ death toll would be “substantially” under 100,000 people.
Currently, the death toll stands at 560,000 and counting and is largely believed to be so high from federal inaction and Trump’s personal comments.
Jimmy Kimmell had lots to say, “Well, you know what they say, ‘hindsight is infuriating’. Even though we have all that stuff on tape, what with Trump saying COVID will be over by Easter, the light at the end of the tunnel, predicting less than 100,000 deaths, there are people who still support him and think he did a great job, even to the point where it damages them personally.”
