Lauren Boebert said the Taliban are ‘Building Back Better’ and got torched on Twitter

Republican representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado faces major backlash after she tweeted, ‘The Taliban are the only people building back better.’

Boebert is accused of rooting for the extremist group that seized control over Afghanistan two days ago – through a tweet that appeared to take a swipe at President Joe Biden and his ‘Build Back Better’ slogan.

Boebert, a notable Trump supporter in the 2020 presidential election, took to Twitter with yet another insensitive ‘joke’, which was immediately slammed by disgusted social media users across the globe.

The Republican representative posted the gut-wrenching clip of Afghan men swarming a US military plane to escape their strife-torn country.

“At least they won’t have to read mean tweets”, she tweeted.

The Taliban has taken over the country after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country “to avoid bloodshed.” In a statement, he said the Taliban had won the 20-year war in the region.

The extremist group has since seized control and set up a government with no transition period, soon announcing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from the presidential palace. There are concerns that the Taliban will revert fundamental human and democratic rights back to mirror their extremist Islamic rule during 1996-2001.

Twitter users were appalled by Boebert’s horrific statements. So much so, it led some to believe that her account must have been hacked. One tweeted, “I’m not surprised that someone who helped coordinate the January 6th insurrection would be on the same side as the Taliban.”

While another said, “Rep. @laurenboebert (R-CO) was one of 16 no votes against expanding a visa program for Afghan allies seeking escape.”
