People are pointing out a disturbing problem with this Republican election ad

The USA is weird. We all know this. The place has tried to prove itself as totally terrifying since, well, November 2016.

Still unconvinced? Take a look at this creepy ad campaign from Leah Vukmir, a Republican from Wisconsin vying for election to the Senate.

Bizarrely, she appears to think that casually sitting at a table in a darkened room with only a handgun for company is what the American people want - though judging by the news cycle, she might be right.

People on Twitter were understandably pretty disturbed.

Not to mention the verbal contents of her ad.

Vukmir attacks Planned Parenthood and promises to bust up unions yet, as well as stand with president Donald Trump just as she did against death threats against her. In the ad, she says:

When Scott Walker and I beat the union bosses, cut billions in taxes and defunded Planned Parenthood, the left couldn't take it..

With president Trump, we can do the same in Washington. Standing on principle takes guts. I know what it takes.

Also, there's a gun. In a political advert. Just in case you had forgotten. At least Vukmir got the title of the video spot on: 'Threatened'? Feel that.

Vukmir will take on Delafield businessman Kevin Nicholson on 14 August, with the winner taking on Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin in November.
