The new Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle has a very odd way of watching television

Lindsay Hoyle may have a political career so typical it borders on a snooze-fest, but at least his sports-watching habits are pretty fun.

A photo of him watching the rugby world cup final on Saturday has been re-circulating on Twitter after he was elected to replace House Speaker John Bercow yesterday.

The photo, which Hoyle captioned "come on England" shows him sitting in an armchair in front of the television... but facing in entirely the wrong direction.

And it wasn't just that, the whole room had a bizarre sparse and retro vibe that people were pretty confused by.

Some people chose to believe it was an artistic choice.

Others just saw the borderline unparalleled memeabiliy of the moment.
