Man arrested for firing out of Kentucky hotel room says he was trying to shoot aliens

One man gave a pretty wild explanation to police officers when he was questioned as to why he was shooting out of a hotel in Richmond, Kentucky.

According to Samuel Riddell, 55, he noticed aliens hanging about in the parking lot and decided to open fire on them at an unnamed hotel on Keeneland Drive, causing an evacuation on Saturday afternoon.

As Riddell was shooting at the “aliens,” a woman with the 55-year-old locked herself in the hotel room bathroom and didn’t come out until police responded, the press release said.

Luckily, no one was injured though it was later discovered by police that several bullets had struck vehicles in the parking lot, and one had entered an adjacent occupied room.

Before arresting Riddell, police were given the bizarre excuse for his behaviour.

“Mr. Riddell told police that he observed aliens in the parking lot and was shooting at them,” the release stated. “Detectives discovered Mr. Riddell was a convicted felon and was in possession of two handguns and a semi-automatic rifle.”

As a result of his alien-shooting antics, Riddell was charged with four counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, multiple counts of criminal mischief and possession of a handgun and firearm by a convicted felon, Richmond Police said.
