Man stands on roadside advising motorists how to drive safely proving not all heroes wear capes

They say not all heroes wear capes, and that certainly includes this civically-minded dude who hangs out on the side of freeways advising drivers. Yes, really.

Last Friday, stunned motorist and Twitter user Kate Cartwright posted a video to her Twitter account of the man doing just that, in a tweet that has since gone viral.

Taking to the social networking platform, in a now viral tweet that has been re-tweeted over 77,000 times, she wrote:

The hero we needed but didn't deserve.

In the video, a man can be seen standing at the side of the road, holding a sign that reads:

You have your own turning lane. Do not stop.

Wow, what man.

Many people on Twitter were quick to praise 'the dude' for doing the hard work so that we don't have to.

Some eulogised his hero status.

Others wished he had accomplices.

While others were simply *really* impressed.
