A person’s political perspective will usually decide how they view an event.
So despite Donald Trump’s bizarre and unfocused performance in the final debate that took place last night, die-hard Trump fans are naturally praising him.
For Republicans who aren’t Trump fans however, that praise is less of a given.
Which is why it’s surprising that broadcaster Megyn Kelly chose to declare that Trump ‘won’ the debate, heaping plaudits onto him.
“Trump won this debate, handily. Biden wasn’t a force at all,” Kelly tweeted.
“Trump was substantive, on-point, well-tempered. Definitely helped himself, when it mattered most”.
Given that Kelly and Trump have a long-running feud, plus the fact that he spent the debate rambling about everything from coyotes “bringing” immigrant children to the US and claiming he “pre-paid” millions in tax, the statement caused some eyebrows to raise.
Ok, a lot of eyebrows to raise.
Aubrey O’Day, former Apprentice contestant and ex-girlfriend of Trump’s son Donald Jr, even asked Kelly if she’d been “drinking bleach”.
Actor Patricia Arquette asked Kelly if she had “windmill cancer”, a reference to Trump’s claim that wind turbine noise can cause cancer.
To which Kelly replied that she was just “engaging in fair analysis”.
Really?
Others speculated as to what could have made Kelly come to such a conclusion.
People pulled up the official post-debate polling for comparison.
Some thought she even might be eyeing up a new TV slot.
At least Kelly is keeping some dignit-- oh wait.
You know what they say; if you can’t (currently get hired with a major network) beat them, join ‘em!
