Donald Trump Jr. roasted for retweet suggesting Michael Cohen has 'no reason to lie'

By now most of the world knows that president Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen gave testimony to Congress yesterday. And boy, wasn’t it juicy?

During the testimony, Cohen said that Trump is a “racist”, a “liar” and a “cheat”. Speaking from Vietnam, Trump branded the claims from Cohen – who is currently serving jail time for lying to congress – as “lies”.

Entertainingly, Cohen said that Trump used to say that his son, Donald Jr., had “the worst judgement of anyone in the world”.

So it’s a little surprising to see the president’s son retweeting tweets which suggest that Cohen is telling the truth about his father.

During the hearing, journalist Garrett M. Graff tweeted that it was “incredible” to see all the “hubris” drained from Cohen. He concluded: “This is a man with nothing left, with no reason to lie or obfuscate at all. Humbling, in its way”.

Oddly, the president’s son retweeted the supportive message. Perhaps this is an example of the “judgement” Trump is allegedly concerned about?

Donald Jr. quickly undid the retweet, but, naturally, Twitter had a field day regardless.

Meanwhile, president Trump and the White House portrayed Cohen as a pathological liar ahead of his testimony, tweeting:

Cohen testified Wednesday that Trump reimbursed him for hush money payments to two women prior to the 2016 election, which have been deemed as campaign finance violations by federal prosecutors. He also said that Trump routinely inflated and deflated his wealth for personal gain.

So just a quiet news day then.
