Oscar Pistorius guilty of murder: what you need to know

Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder for the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Here's what you need to know:

  • A South African appeals court overturned the previous manslaughter conviction on Thursday morning

  • The appeal judge, Justice Leach, ruled that the athlete should have been convicted for dolus eventualis murder, which has to do with intent, at his original trial

  • The ruling comes after the South African state asked the appeals court to review the case

  • Pistorius's legal team have 10 days to appeal against the decision if he can prove that his constitutional rights have been denied

  • The case could be handed over to the higher Constitutional Court for a final decision
