Some of the Parkland survivors met with the James Shaw Jr, the man who managed to take an AR-15 from the Waffle House gunman who had killed four people and injured four more.

Students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site where 17 people were killed as a result of a shooting, met with Shaw at a Waffle House in Tennessee.

Shaw tweeted a picture he took with Emma Gonzalez, a leading gun control activist, echoing the words she used to describe him as a hero.

Kanye West had previously tweeted that Gonzalez was his hero, to which she appeared to respond by calling Shaw hers.

David Hogg, another important member in the movement known for his scathing criticism of American politicians, also met with Shaw.

Another Parkland survivor and activist Sam Fuentes tweeted a ‘shrapnel free’ photo of herself on the same day.

She wrote:

My face is finally shrapnel free! Regardless of the fact I look like I lost a fight, inside I’m winning in a way. I’ve been struggling so hard to love my face again, thank you for all your support.
