People have been revealing the reasons they were stood up at the altar

It should be one of the happiest days of people's lives, but for some people their wedding day can turn into one of the worst.

Brides and grooms who have been left at the altar have been sharing their experiences on anonymous messaging app Whisper.

Here are 11 people who have explained what happened to them, what went through their mind and what they did in the aftermath:

Mine cheated on me and I lost all my money on the wedding that didn't happen.

My 'fiancé' laughed in my face when the pastor asked if he would take me to be his wife and humiliated me in front of my whole family and his. I'm currently in a custody battle for my son.

My fiancé left me three days before our wedding because he wasn't ready. He married someone else three months later.

My fiancé ran off with someone else one month before our wedding. I was completely blindsided.

My fiancee left me for another woman four years ago today. It still feels like it was yesterday.
