Michelle Wolf rips into ABC for putting Roseanne back on TV in the first place

Comedian Michelle Wolf has earned a reputation for her legendary roasting skills.

This week, she turned her attention to Roseanne Barr and, more specifically, the cancellation of her ABC show Roseanne following a series of racist tweets.

Barr later claimed that she had been taking Ambien, a well-known sleeping pill, although Twitter was quick to point out that many use the drug and that none experience side effects of racism and bigotry.

Wolf weighed in as part of a segment named 'Internet Goofs', which features in her Netflix special The Break with Michelle Wolf. As a screenshot of Barr's tweet appears, Wolf says:

It's not a joke, it's barely a tweet, and her excuse for tweeting it was bad. You got to get better at one of those, Roseanne!

Soon after, a 2009 photograph of Barr dressed as Hitler and brandishing a tray of freshly-baked biscuits appears on-screen. "You guys!" exclaims Wolf, before continuing:

Everyone's been saying it's so brave of ABC to cancel their hit show, but the bold move was actually putting this lady Hitler chef back on the air in the first place.

So kudos to ABC, it takes a lot of courage to fire someone after they've been openly racist for the thousandth time.

Wolf then goes on to address Trump's tweet saying that the cancellation revealed a "double standard", a remark which appears to be a thinly-veiled defence of Roseanne.

"You're right, it is a double standard," she said, "so let's even the playing field." She continued:

How about we enslave all white people for a couple hundred years and, even after they're not slaves anymore, still hold them down in society, devalue their existence by comparing them to animals, never apologise, never really make it right, and then after that there will be no more double standards and everyone will get fired for everything they say.

This isn't the first time that Wolf's jokes have made headlines; earlier this year, the star went viral when she laid into various politicians at the official White House Correspondents' Dinner.

As well as calling Trump a racist and poking fun at the term 'white nationalist' (that's a weird term for 'Nazi'... It's like calling Harvey Weinstein a 'ladies' man'), she famously went after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders:

I actually really like Sarah, I think she's very resourceful. Like, she burns facts, and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye.

Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's lies. It's probably lies.

Funny and woke - what's not to love?
