The countries which receive the most military aid from the US

The US state department hands out approximately $5.7bn in military aid to countries around the world each year.

As this chart from Statista shows, in 2015 Israel will receive more than all the other 74 countries combined while Egypt receives nearly a quarter.

The Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme is provided to US allies to enable the procurement of "defence articles and services" and helps the country's "global partners" to carry out counter-terrorist operations and participate in "stability operations", according to the state department's website.
