The grim view David Cameron's new £16m Notting Hill mansion gets him

After standing down as prime minister, David Cameron may have been looking forward to an absence of television cameras, police cars and the nation's press pack each time he stepped out of his front door.

But instead of green fields or even plush townhouses to replace them, what now greets the MP for Witney is a massive building site replete with noisy electric saws and men with very loud hammers.

After hastily moving out of Downing Street on Wednesday, the Camerons have relocated to a family friend's £16m mansion in the west London neighbourhood of Notting Hill.
