Trump wants to hold the next G7 summit at his own hotel, because of course he does

In the most on brand move imaginable, President Donald Trump has announced that he’d like next year’s G7 summit to happen at his own hotel in Florida, Trump National Doral Miami.

The president was meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the G7 in Biarritz, France, when he took it upon himself to boasting about the resort’s proximity to the airport, Trump said:

We haven’t found anything that’s even close to competing with it. Really you can be there in a matter of minutes after you land.

With his usual lack of humility, the President added:

It’s a great place, got tremendous acreage, many hundreds of acres, so it can handle whatever happens. It’s very big, great conference rooms, so we’re thinking about it. We love the hotel and they also love the fact that it’s right next to the airport for convenience.

According to reports, the Doral resort has been struggling financially for years and it appears the President is looking to turn things round for his own business as opposed to focusing on the future of the world at large. Additionally according to Quartz, the Trump Doral resort may also have unhygienic pools. State records show that Florida Department of Health Inspectors have shut down pools at Trump properties at least 10 times in 2019. As of July 22, the pools at Trump Doral would appear to have not been inspected for the last 12 months, despite regulations requiring inspections occur twice a year.
