Donald Trump's habit of assigning nicknames to people that he has determined to be an enemy is one of the US president's most unusual traits.
But now the president is attempting to stick up for one of his opponents after Joe Biden accused Trump of siding with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
This comes after Biden attacked Trump for his visit to Japan which coincided with Memorial Day and accused him of exchanging 'love letters' with Kim.
A statement from deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said:
To be on foreign soil, on Memorial Day, and to side repeatedly with a murderous dictator against a fellow American and former vice president speaks for itself.
And it’s part of a pattern of embracing autocrats at the expense of our institutions — whether taking Putin’s word at face value in Helsinki or exchanging ‘love letters’ with Kim Jong Un.
On Monday, Trump took part in a press conference with the Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, the POTUS revealed that during one of his meetings with Kim, the North Korean leader had given his approximation of Biden's intelligence.
Kim Jong Un made a statement that Joe Biden is a low-IQ individual. He probably is, based on his record. I think I agree with him on that.
However, following Biden's backlash, Trump has tried to clarify his statement and revealed that what Kim said was actually a lot worse.
So, according to this calling someone a 'low IQ individual' isn't worth getting irate about but a 'low IQ idiot' is a step too far. Oh and let's not overlook the fact that he called him 'Sleepy Joe' in a tweet where he is apparently trying to defend.
It's possible that Trump is being a little sarcastic here but we honestly can't tell anymore. Regardless, people were absolutely baffled at Trump's attempt to stick up for the Democratic presidential hopeful.
