Trump Jr accuses Greta Thunberg of being used as a 'marketing gimmick' after she was named Time's person of the year

The teenage climate change activist, Greta Thunberg has been named as the Time Person of the Year and predictably Donald Trump Jr isn't happy about it.

The 16-year-old Swede was arguably the stand-out choice for the award, beating the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Xi Jinping, 'The Whistleblower,' Megan Rapinoe, Jacinda Ardern, Mark Zuckerberg and the Hong Kong protestors.

While bestowing such an accolade on a young girl, who has previously said that she doesn't want to be seen as a celebrity, should probably be open to scrutiny, Trump Jr's take on Thunberg's win wasn't exactly the most articulate take on the story.

Seemingly annoyed that the Hong Kong protestors didn't win, Trump Jr lashed out at Time and accused Thunberg of being used as a 'marketing gimmick.'

Trump didn't go on to clarify what the 'marketing gimmick' was – and we're not sure how much money can be made out of rallying against climate change, as opposed to the many companies that continue to exploit the climate for their benefit.

As you can imagine, people weren't too impressed to see Trump Jr attacking a youngster in such a manner.

Trump Jr wasn't the only person unhappy to see Thunberg named as 'Person of the Year' and yes, the other detractors are mostly Trump supporters.

Even his old man wasn't happy, telling Thunberg to 'chill'.

Others, mostly Democrats, were a bit more supportive of Time's decision.
