Donald Trump Jr has been ridiculed for bragging about attending a New Year’s Eve concert featuring a performance by Vanilla Ice.

The party took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which the president regularly visits, to see in the new year.

Posting a video of the event on Facebook, the president’s son can be seen filming himself amongst a crowd of maskless guests.

At the same time, the rapper Vanilla Ice performs his one-hit-wonder single “Ice Ice Baby” on the stage, followed by a cover of “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry. The video’s caption reads:

“Ok this is amazing. Vanilla Ice is playing the Mar-a-Lago New Years Eve party. As a child of the 90s you can’t fathom how awesome that is. Beyond that I got the birthday shoutout so that’s pretty amazing.”

The internet was quick to react to the rather tragic-looking event and attempted brag by Trump Jr.

The Beach Boys member Mike Lowe is also said to have performed at the event, which appeared to be severely lacking in any kind of social distancing or virus precautions.

Reportedly, tickets to previous New Year’s Eve parties held at Mar-a-Largo cost $1,000, leaving some baffled as to why, during a pandemic, anyone would pay that amount to see Vanilla Ice perform while also putting themselves at significant risk of catching Covid-19.

The party was also reportedly attended by another of Trump’s sons Eric and his wife Lara, as well as Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and many other Republicans, including Trump’s advisors.
