Trump raised $75m to challenge election result and didn’t spend any of it on challenging the election result

Donald Trump raised an eye-watering $75m in his bid to challenge the 2020 presidential election result - however he hasn’t actually put any of the money towards this, according to a new report.

Considering the former president hasn’t shut up about the election being “stolen,” and continues to push this false narrative, you would think he would be doing everything possible to prove his unfounded claim... but no.

Rather than finance any of the attempts by Republicans to conduct ballot reviews in Arizona or elsewhere, the Save America PAC has instead spent the large sum on staff salaries and travel and legal expenses for the former president, the Washington Post reported.

This information is based on several anonymous people who were familiar with the PAC’s finances and shared their knowledge with the publication.

Both Trump and the PAC have focused on the 2020 election within their fundraising emails, so it is quite odd that not a dime has been spent in that area.

He has previously leant his support - but not his money - to election audits and used the PAC to communicate this message.

In one of his messages shared by the PAC, he wrote: “There was no victory here, or in any other of the Swing States either.”

Perhaps this is a strategic move on Trump’s behalf, as he’s previously hinted at another presidential run in 2024.

“The tactic allows Trump to build up a war chest to use in the 2022 midterms on behalf of candidates he favors — and to stockpile cash for another potential White House run, an unprecedented maneuver for a former president,” The Post reported.

By the end of 2020, the Save America PAC had raised $31.2 million, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

The Save America has until July 31 to publicly disclose its fundraising and spending for the first half of the year.
