4 of the weirdest things Trump decided to talk about at his press conference

Donald Trump’s press conference has been the talk of the town, and not for the right reasons.

The US president spent the day in meetings at the United Nations General Assembly, where he elicited some unintentional laughs when he talked about his presidency being the best there ever was (though he insists he meant to make his peers laugh).

He faced questions about a number of salient issues, including the Brett Kavanaugh controversy and trade policy.

His answers were…interesting, to say the least.

Here are some moments people have been talking about:

1. Being untruthful about sexual assault allegations against him

Following a question about sexual assault allegations levelled against him and his ‘personal experiences being accused by more than a dozen women of sexual misconduct,’ he said:

I've been accused, and I was accused by I believe it was four women.

He went on to argue they were ‘false accusations’ and put the cherry on top of the weird cake by saying the allegations against him, which were reported in the New York Times was ‘false reporting’ and ‘fake news.’

It's more like 20 women, not four by the way.

2. When he attempted to defend Kavanaugh by…implying George Washington battled sexual assault accusations(??)

Trump kept his answers about sexual assault accusations against his Supreme Court Justice nominee brief. However, in a bizarre twist, the US president brought George Washington into his speech.

He said:

Look, if we brought George Washington here, and we said, 'We have George Washington.' The Democrats would vote against him, just so you understand. And he may have had a bad past, who knows? He may have had some — I think accusations made? Didn't he have a couple of things in his past? George Washington would be voted against 100 percent by [Chuck] Schumer and the con artists.

Um, right?

3. Saying meant to make the UN laugh.

Trump opened Tuesday's speech by describing the American economy as ‘booming like never before’ before going on to claim that his administration had accomplished more in less than two years than any of his predecessors at similar points in their terms.

His comments elicited laughter from political leaders from all over the world, and now he claims he meant to do that you guys.

Trump said:

They weren’t laughing at me, they were laughing with me. We were having fun.

Uhh, not sure that's how this works Donald.

4. Comparing his press conference to a concert.

The US president decided to end his conference by misquoting Elton John. As you do.

I always like to finish with a good one. Elton John said 'When you hit that last tune and it's good, don't go back.’

There’s no proof that Elton John actually said that, but who needs accuracy when you have a big ‘ol smile?
