Stephen Colbert has taken on Donald Trump's UK state visit - and it's hilarious

After taking a week off, Stephen Colbert is back, and he's taken Donald Trump's three-day UK state visit to task in the best possible way.

In a hilarious sketch on The Late Show, the comedian said:

The president has fled the country, knowing we were back on the air.

Colbert poked fun at the visit, which included Trump meeting the Queen, Meghan Markle refusing to meet the president, and the fact that Buckingham Palace wouldn't put the Trumps up due to 'refurbishment' work.

Taking on the fact that the Queen gave Trump a first edition copy of Winston Churchill's The Second World War as a gift, Colbert quipped:

Look, thank you so much, but don't tell me how it ends.

Later on in the skit, Colbert imitated Trump, using his hilarious trademark impression, made the close-to-the-bone quip:

I really liked that German Charlie Chaplin who invented the high-five.
