Welcome to possibly the world's most polite abortion counter-protest

Abort 67 is a pro-life group infamous for using graphic images of abortion at protests and handing out leaflets containing pictures of dismembered foetuses.

It also bring cameras to protests, which the group says are for the protection of its own members.

Their weekly presence at Blackfriars medical practice, a GP surgery where a Bpas clinic offering terminations opened earlier this year, has led to calls for buffer zones around clinics.

This is what their protest looked like this week.

Then Southwark residents came to counter-protest.

This is John Kennedy, one of the local residents

The man in this video arguing with John is Andrew Stephenson, Abortion 67's director.

This was as rough as things got:

That is Ruth Rawlins, who works for Abort 67, and a model of a foetus at 12 weeks.

David Noakes, a Liberal Democrat councillor for Southwark was among the counter-protesters. He told i100:

If Abort 67 disagree with abortion, rather than being outside a medical practice, filming, intimidating people and trying to upset people who might be seeking advice [on abortion] I think they should be campaigning with law makers and medical professionals.

Liz Justice, a local resident, told i100:

Women have the right to make their own decisions in life and they do not need to be confronted with horrendous pictures. There isn't an organiser [of this protest], this is several community groups. If we'd been here last night you'd be looking at garden plans for Nelson square.

Aside from garden plans, actual topics for the local residents at the clinic included green waste, while one counter-protester had a copy of The Spectator.

At one stage, the police thanked them for keeping things polite.

An hour into the protest, Abort 67 wrapped up its banners...

... And the local residents left to go to a carol service.
