When these Indian actors were asked if they would ever play a gay role, they had a pretty great response

Tl;dr - Why on earth not?

At a press conference for their upcoming comedy Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive, actors Manish Paul and Sikander Kher were asked if they would ever consider playing a homosexual roles.

Looking slightly perplexed, Kher said:

I am comfortable with everything.

While Paul, already a step ahead asked:

>What do you want to see?

After turning towards each other, the pair embraced for a very convincing simulated kiss, as captured by Asian News International (ANI) in this video below:

Manish was quick to point out the journalist’s discomfort with the word "homosexuality".

India has a tumultuous history with homophobia and engaging in homosexual acts has been a criminal offence for many years.

Earlier this month, India's Supreme Court decided to reconsider a 2013 ruling that reinforced the criminalisation of homosexuality.

Referred to as taking a "curative position" it essentially reopens the debate at the judicial level.

With actors pushing the boundaries by willing to take homosexual roles, and a willingness on the part of the government to engage in a debate on the matter, it seems there is hope yet for the gay rights movement in India.
