As much as we all like chatting to and finding out more about the lives of our Uber drivers, there are some boundaries between driver and customer that need to be kept.

But one Uber driver didn't seem to get that memo when he refused to drive a young woman to her abortion appointment at a Planned Parenthood clinic.

In a post on Reddit, a 20-year-old student from upstate New York described how she made an appointment at the closest abortion clinic after finding out she was pregnant. As she doesn't own a car herself, she heavily relies on Uber, so she ordered one to get to her appointment.

But five minutes into the drive to the clinic, her Uber driver asked her whether they were going to a Planned Parenthood. After the woman does not reply, he asks again, adding:

I know it’s none of my business, but there is so much they don’t tell you.

You’re going to regret this decision for the rest of your life.

The driver then took it even further, stopping the car at a gas station, about halfway to the destination, saying:

I’m sorry, but I can’t take you the rest of the way. I can take you back to [my city], but you won’t be able to find another Uber out here.

Yes, really.

The young woman, who was in complete shock, started crying, called a local cab and then got to her appointment one hour late.

She has since filed a police report and also reported the Uber driver. The company later informed her that he had been banned from Uber.

Her post can be read in full here:

Other Reddit users couldn't believe this story, with some even advising the woman to take the driver to court.
