Clip Art is dead and soon you'll be explaining it to a bemused 19-year-old

Microsoft has announced that it will be discontinuing the Clip Art image library from future versions of Office. (See above image for the world's collective reaction).

"Usage of Office’s image library has been declining year-to-year as customers rely more on search engines," the tech giant explained. "The Office.com Clip Art and image library has closed shop."

So instead of being able to jazz up Power Point presentations or Word documents with rudimentary doodles of stick men and women, children (and many adults) of the future will now be forced to use Bing's archive of creative commons images.

Perhaps the most saddening things for all closet Clip Art fans out there is that Microsoft gave no prior warning, no notice period to be served, Clip Art was not sent out to pasture.

Thankfully, those pining for some retro 90s illustrations can still access the old Clip Art archive on older versions of Microsoft Office and an online archive can be found here too.
